Free Patient Health & Wellness Seminar To Spotlight Nutrition During Cancer

“Eating Well Through Cancer Treatment” is headlining a new series of health and wellness outreach seminars benefitting local cancer patients and caregivers at Coastal Cancer Center in 2014.

Kris Ratley, RDN, LDN, will present the free one-hour seminar on Tuesday, February 4 from 2-3 p.m. at Coastal Cancer Center’s Myrtle Beach office, located at 8121 Rourk Street. The seminar is co-sponsored by Carolina Cancer Foundation.

Because healthy eating habits are critical to a patient’s well-being during chemotherapy and radiation treatment, the goal of the free seminar is to provide patients and caregivers a practical approach on nutritional management through cancer. Proper nutrition can greatly affect a patient’s strength and energy levels before, during and after treatment. The National Cancer Institute suggests patients who are well nourished may have a better prognosis and quality of life.

Kris will also provide advice on food options to consider while battling the most common treatment side effects, including loss of energy, nausea, mouth swelling and loss of appetite. Food will be served at this event.

Space is limited for this free one-hour seminar on February 4. Registration is required. Please call (843) 429-5054 to sign-up.
